Description (inc. icon. study, comparison with similar objects, production context)

The fragment, possibly from a sarcophagus, represents a nude male from the lower abdomen to the middle of the thighs. The figure is depicted frontally with a sense of movement towards his right: the inner thing muscles are well modelled and most of the weight of the body is on the right leg. The genitals, although damaged, seem carefully rendered and part of the pubic hair is preserved.

Appears to be missing; possibly stolen from Butrint Archaeological Museum in 1991.

Conserved as a fragment. Relief broken on all sides; surface chipped and worn.
